Position Description
Primary responsibilities for role:- Develops and tests product code according to BMC quality standards.- Maintains knowledge of product environments and applicable software technologies.- Provides complete documentation in the form of commented code, problem status information, and design documents.- Performs thorough problem analysis that results in resolution of product-related problems according to BMC support standards.- Completes code and other deliverables on schedule.- Performs thorough unit testing; supports systems and integration testing as required to provide a quality product.- Provides input to the Technical Writers for all product documentation.- Accurately estimates the size and scope of the development effort as measured by the product delivery schedule
Position Requirements
- Design, development and delivery experience on enterprise applications or cutting edge products.
- Knowledge and experince of Ruby on Rails, DHTML, CSS, AJAX is a must.
- Knowledge of working on databases and forming optimized queries is a must.
- Script debugging tools experience with FireBug, IE Script Debugger is a must.
- Knowledge of Core Java or any object oriented language shall be a plus.
- Knowledge of JRuby shall be a big plus.
- Hands-on experience with cucumber / capybara framework will be a big plus.
- Knowledge of J2EE compliant applications using Websphere / Tomcat / WebLogic / JBoss or similar products is a big plus.
- Experience with continuous integration process or experience with test driven development is a big plus.
- Experience in SOAP or REST based Web Service is a plus.
- Exposure to automated build systems and deploy framework is a plus.
- Good understanding of troubleshooting of multi-layered application is a plus.
Position Attributes
The candidate should have a proven track record of delivering high quality commercial enterprise products.
- Experience in application development platform for workflow automation and process orchestration.
- Excellent ability to develop Object Oriented and Service Oriented software with practical use of design patterns.
- Good knowledge of web servers and app servers, internals of browsers and standards compliance of different browsers (IE/FireFox/Safari).
- Experience with distributed systems is a must.
- Capable of coming up with approach for delivering stories and results instead of waiting for manager to tell task list.
- Capable of handling unknowns without getting discouraged in project where vision of product is finalized but understanding of exact features gets clear gradually during the project.
- Assertive individual who knows how to help drive software development process maturity and is able to clearly communicate goals, decisions and recommendations to appropriate parties.
- Excellent team player.
